A chronicle of life with dogs, or what you will.

At about 5 pm, our upstairs neighbors knocked on our backdoor. Apparently, a squirrel had gotten into the building and was last seen wreaking havoc in the basement. Although mildly amusing, I realized that a single squirrel can damage all of our property very easily. We did what any renter would do: called the landlord.
After we left a message, we settled back in to our Sunday evening rest. However, within an hour, our olfactory-driven kids sniffed and snuffed at the vents in the living room. Maddy started to whine and paw the vent. I looked at my husband and we realized: squirrel.
“Our vents can’t be opened from inside, right” my husband asked clutching his PS3 controller.
I stared back.
Twenty minutes later, we’ve secured all vents by either tightening the screws or duct tape. Maddy is now standing guard by the largest of the old vents in our office, sniffing through the floorboards once in awhile. I will not sleep well tonight.
